Perfection Is Attainable

Most people have an awareness of the person they want to be –but many times a person’s sense of who they are is quite different from how others see them. It’s easy to become blind to your daily actions that portray your true character to others. When you have the love of Jesus in your heart, He shines out in everything you do. This includes: being a patient and courteous driver–even if you’re late for an important meeting, being kind to the person who is rude in the checkout line, or giving a warm smile to that person who is annoying instead of wishing they would just go away. Human nature pulls us in the opposite direction but as Christians, we strive to be the person God wants us to be–true ambassadors for Him. But when you fail, instead of becoming discouraged and slipping into the pool of despair, reach out to Jesus. Ask for forgiveness and don’t forget to pray for an extra measure of strength, courage and more love for your fellow man. Above all, remember that the only “perfect” person that has ever lived on this earth–is Jesus! He set an example of how we should live through His daily acts of kindness, healing and mercy. No one is perfect and God doesn’t wish for you to be despondent because you cannot meet your own expectations of perfection. We’re told in Hebrews 10:14, “By one sacrifice (Jesus Christ) has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.” Perfection IS attainable - but ONLY through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Texts: 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, Isaiah 26:3, Philippians 1:6, 1 John 1:7
